The illegal cultivation of marijuana exists throughout Granada

Simply put, it is one of the most lucrative ways by which a Granadino can make a living, each plant of about two meters yielding a profit of about 6,000 Euros. Because of such a potential reward, it is no wonder why one would take the risk of such an illegal operation. However, the fact of the matter is that the potential for riches is heavily outweighed by the consequences of growing marijuana. Because the nearly perfect climate of Granada offers the perfect conditions for this illegal pursuit of profit, it is no surprise that the police force of Granada recently confiscated 176 marijuana sativa plants. Because of harsher punishments and increased police investigation, it seems as though a once prevalent plant may no longer have a place in the streets of Granada.
