Granada have triumphed in what was dubbed the battle of Andalucía.
A midday kick off saw a packed house of 16,000 at the estadio de los Carmenes on a bitterly cold sunday afternoon. If the stadium had been bigger they could have doubled that attendance due to the demand for tickets.
It was a tight first half with Betis looking the superior team and on top on all statistics except the one that matters. They went in 0-0 at half time.
But things changed massivly after the break and Granada used their pace to tear apart an unimaginative Betis. Three counter attack goals in the second half saw Granada take a deserved 3-0 victory and another giant step towards promotion to top flight of spanish football.
Swiss born Geijo scored his 15th and 16th goals of the campaign to secure the victory and it keeps him top of the race for the "pichichi" the leagues top goal scorer. Home favourite Dani Benitez got the other goal of the game.
There is no doubting that this should be the confidence boost to kickstart the second half of the season as Granada now can have a realistic expectation to be in the mixer for play off promotion come next May.
