International Music and Dance Festival. Preview by Heidi Hong
Tickets went on sale yesterday for the 60th Annual International Music and Dance Festival, which will take place from the 24th of June to the 12 of July. Since 1952, the Festival has invited artists and hosted shows to celebrate unique aspects of European culture and history in Granada. Many of the festivities will take place at the Alhambra and palace gardens, locations central to Granada’s identity. However, artistic events extend throughout the city to historical monuments such as the Cathedral, the Monastery of San Jeronimo, and other memorable venues. Shows celebrate traditions of ballet, flamenco, classical music, and opera interpreted by some of the finest orchestras and ensembles. Invited performers include the Spanish National Ballet, the Stanislavsky ballet and orchestra, flamenco singer Estrella Morente, and many more. A number of week-long courses in music, photography, and dance are also available with professors and professionals.
Tickets are on sale and can be brought from Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.es/granadafestival) online, as well as a number of locations in Granada. Tickets sell out quickly, so don’t wait for long!
